Healing your Pet with Spinal Manipulation

Spinal manipulation is the process of restoring full and pain-free range of motion to joints. You can think of it as canine chiropractic care. Just like going to a chiropractor can help restore your joint or back pain, spinal manipulation can help your canine relieve pain and suffering, and promote general wellness.

How Does Spinal Manipulation Work?

When you think of spinal manipulation as canine chiropractic care it becomes a little easier to understand. It focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing nerve stress caused by distortions, also known as subluxations. Subluxations can cause both physical and emotional pain. This is associated with the loss of energy, pain, weakness, neurologic issues, and varying diseases. Spinal manipulation does not replace traditional veterinary medicine, but it can provide additional diagnosis and treatment options.

The dog’s spinal column has over 100 separate joints. When your pet loses its normal range of motion in one or more of these joints, it compensates elsewhere. Dr. Neely uses a hands-on approach to discover the areas your pet is experiencing a decreased range of motion or misalignment. Once your pet has been evaluated, she will use canine chiropractic techniques to make the appropriate adjustments.

How do I know if my pet needs spinal manipulation therapy?

Many animals can benefit from spinal manipulation, not just those that are injured or ill. If your pet seems to have a sensitive spot, is walking or trotting a little off, or simply not performing with the same ability they use to, they may be a perfect candidate for spinal manipulation. However, pets in good health can be good candidates too. Canine chiropractic care techniques can help maintain your pet’s proper alignment and mobility, as well as boost their immune system and energy. Overall spinal manipulation can help your pet live a long, active and healthy life!
