Through the food change, the herbs, and acupuncture, he is a significantly calmer dog.
Before we started treatment with you, he would visibly shake and pant if it got dark outside during the day (like when a storm was coming). Hard rain, storms, fireworks, gunshots – all of this would cause this. He would try to crawl into my lap, pant, and shake so violently that we were afraid he would have a heart attack.
We have tried Thunder shirts, calming treats, Prozac, Paxil, CBD oil, mild sedatives, and Sileo. Nothing really worked. The drugs would put him in a state that would almost be worse because he didn’t know what was happening and I think it heightened his fear and anxiety. Once his anxieties got going, it would take hours to calm him down, even if the storm or whatever it was that triggered his anxiety had passed.
Since we started treatment with you, we have only used the daily dosage of Paxil (which we are starting to wean him off of). Through the food change, the herbs, and acupuncture, he is a significantly calmer dog. On New Year’s, he heard fireworks and he just lifted his head. We told him he was ok and that it was on tv. He turned around, lay back down, and went to sleep. Recently, when we had a very hard rain that was hitting the window, he looked at me and then left the room to cuddle/hide in the covers on the bed in the spare bedroom. I had none of the usual panting and trying to climb into my lap. Shortly after the rain stopped, he came back to the room where I was and lay down to go to sleep.
As for his allergies, they are significantly reduced. He doesn’t lick his paws as much as he used to but it hasn’t totally stopped. He is still on Apoquel. Not sure if we would try to wean him off that, but maybe eventually.
